Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, reaffirmed the Union’s “unwavering commitment'' to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during the meeting with Ilia Darchiashvili, the newly-appointed Georgian Foreign Minister, on Wednesday in Strasbourg.
Borrell congratulated Darchiashvili on his appointment and recalled the EU’s “full support” for Georgia amid Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine.
The High Representative highlighted the Union was ready to help Georgia “strengthen its resilience,” pointing out the efforts to deepen the EU-Georgia relations.
Darchiashvili is on an official visit to Brussels between Wednesday and Friday, to hold a series of high-level meetings with EU and NATO officials.
