The newly appointed Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili thanked his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba for “kind wishes” on the appointment on Monday.
The top Ukrainian diplomat tweeted he was “looking forward” to working with Darchiashvili to strengthen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Georgia.
In his response, Darchiashvili reiterated Georgia’s support and solidarity with Ukrainian people in their defence of the country from the Russian invasion.

The Georgian Minister stressed the necessity of a further strengthening of the friendship between the countries for achieving “common successes” and overcoming “challenges”.
Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced on Monday Darchiashvili, the former Head of the Government Administration, had been appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Darchiashvili took over the work from David Zalkaliani, who has been appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States.
