Each Georgian diplomat will continue to serve the best interests of the country abroad “with usual determination”, the newly appointed Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili said on Monday in a briefing at the Government Administration.
Darchiashvili thanked Prime Minister Garibashvili for the confidence in the appointment, which was announced on Monday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, [and] each Georgian diplomat, will continue to defend the best interests of our country abroad with usual determination. I would like to take this opportunity to thank [former Minister] Mr. David Zalkaliani and wish him success in his future professional life,” Darchiashvili said.
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced on Monday Darchiashvili, the former Head of the Government Administration, had been appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
The PM said Darchiashvili would take over the work from Zalkaliani, who has been appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States.
