The Georgian foreign office will be further strengthened by the experience of the newly appointed Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, said on Monday.
Papuashvili wished success to the newly appointed FM, who performed the duties of the Head of the Georgian Government Administration before his appointment on the new position on Monday.
Darchiashvili is a highly experienced diplomat who also has extensive experience in public administration as the Head of the Government administration. Based on his experience, I am confident the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be further strengthened,” the Parliament Speaker said.
Prime Minister Garibashvili announced on Monday Darchiashvili was taking over the Foreign Minister position from David Zalkaliani, who has been appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States.
Darchiashvili is a graduate of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Grenoble Business School in France.
