Decisions made by the Prime Minister of Georgia amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine are based on “certain information and evidence”, Minister of Justice of Georgia Rati Bregadze said on Sunday in an interview with Imedi TV.
Speaking to the channel, Bregadze spoke about the risks to national security in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, and said Georgia’s National Security Council was working “actively” on the matter.
The fact that the war could become real at any time, we saw it in 2008. Also, just a month ago, the entire world saw that a war broke out in Ukraine, in the middle of Europe. Consequently, when we take certain steps, all risks must be properly calculated, taken into account,” the Minister told the channel.
Bregadze also pointed to Russian military bases on Georgia’s Russia-occupied regions among risks that “should be taken into account” by the Government in its decisions during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Georgia has supported Ukraine in “all international formats”, while the Georgian people have been providing humanitarian aid to their Ukrainian counterparts, the official also told the interview.
