Georgian, Azerbaijani FMs discus strategic partnership, close cooperation

Georgia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership and close cooperation between the two countries were discussed on Monday in a phone call between Georgia’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov. 

The top Azerbaijani diplomat congratulated his Georgian colleague on the appointment and wished him success in work, the Georgian foreign office said.

Darchiashvili and Bayramov discussed the situation in the South Caucasus region and the agenda of bilateral relations. 

The phone call underlined Georgia's role in the sustainable stability and development of the region.

The ministers also expressed readiness to actively cooperate to develop the "traditionally friendly and partnerly" relations between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan extended an invitation to his Georgian counterpart to visit Baku.
