Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, is on an official visit to Georgia along with a delegation from the country.
The dignitaries were welcomed at the Tbilisi International Airport on Tuesday by Archil Talakvadze, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, and Arzu Nağıyev, the Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Azerbaijan, the press office of the Georgian Parliament said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan said on Monday it does not recognise the so-called parliamentary elections held in Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region on Saturday, or the results of the ballot.
Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, praised the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia by calling the two states “strategic partners” in press conference with the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday.
Important issues of strategic cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan were discussed on Friday in a meeting between Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian Economy Minister, and Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan.
Given the challenges in the South Caucasus, it is important that Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan “start talking to each other”, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, said on Tuesday.
Georgia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership and close cooperation between the two countries were discussed on Monday in a phone call between Georgia’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.
