A delegation of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the European Parliament will visit Georgia between Sunday and Thursday to assess the work of the EU Monitoring Mission, as well as the possible implications of Russia’s war against Ukraine for Georgia, the EU legislative body said on Friday.
The MEPs will meet, among others, with the Georgian President, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Parliament and the Minister of Defence.
They also intend to pay two field visits to the Administrative Boundary Lines separating the Russian-occupied breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia from the Georgian-controller territory.
Through the visit, the European Parliament said it intended to express its solidarity and underline support for Georgia’s territorial integrity.
