Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Chairman of the Committee on Human Rights of the Georgian Parliament, on Thursday said the ruling Georgian Dream party had brought “real change” in the country through the “completely independent” judiciary system.

Sarjveladze assessed the achievements of the party on the 10th anniversary of its foundation, pointing out the three branches of the power had been “completely intertwined” before Georgian Dream came to power in 2012.

I remember it [the time before the 2012 election] well and that is why I supported and keep supporting Georgian Dream. This party has brought a real change in the country in this regard, and we [now] have a judiciary that is completely independent,” the Parliament official said.

Georgian Dream marked the 10th anniversary of its foundation on Thursday with a statement that celebrated the “crucial role” of the party in the recent history of the country, noting its victories in elections and public votes nine times since the party’s formation in 2012.
