The individual is the “principal value” for the ruling Georgian Dream party, which has “never deviated” from this focus, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said on Thursday on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the foundation of party.

Garibashvili said GD had been founded “under the leadership of Bidzina Ivanishvili together with the Georgian people” in 2012, making it possible to “remove the autocratic and violent regime” in the country - in reference to the former United National Movement government - and begin an “irreversible democratic development” of Georgia.

Georgian Dream has declared the individual, and concern for the individual, as its principal value, and has never deviated from this path. Our political power is based on the respect for person, homeland and church, and [it] unwaveringly upholds the rule of law and strengthens state institutions,” the Government head said.

The PM added the ruling party had “liberated” businesses and media since its coming to power, and the situation in the country had changed “for the better in absolutely every direction” as a consequence.

Under our Government, Georgia is getting closer and closer to integration into the common European family. We are a guarantor of peace, security and stability,” Garibashvili noted while crediting citizens for making the achievements “possible”.

We will write many more important pages of our history, and fulfill the ultimate dream of all Georgians - to build an economically strong, developed and united Georgia,” he concluded.

Georgian Dream marked the 10th anniversary of its foundation on Thursday with a statement that celebrated the “crucial role” of the party in the recent history of the country, noting its victories in elections and public votes nine times since the party’s formation in 2012.
