A group of Russian tourists have been saved by Georgian rescuers after getting trapped in an avalanche in Georgia’s high mountainous region of Svaneti.
The avalanche happened in Svaneti, on the north-western slopes of the mountain Tetnuldi. A group of Russian tourists, who had moved off the ski track to ski off-piste, suddenly ended up in the disaster zone," reads the statement by the Mountain Resorts Company.
A Svanetian rescue team of Georgia’s Mountain Resorts Company immediately reacted to the incident and managed to save a Russian skier [in danger] in several minutes and take him to a safe place”, says the press release by the Mountain Resorts Company.
The two other skiers managed to avoid the path of the avalanche.
