Two foreign tourists have been saved by Georgian rescuers in a daring mountain rescue in northwestern Georgia.

The mountaineers – from Germany and Israel – were reported missing after they didn’t contact anyone for three days since they departed to climb Mount Tetnuldi in Georgia’s mountainous Svaneti region.

Svaneti is a popular destination for local and international mountain climbers.

This year rescuers from Georgia’s Interior Ministry’s Emergency Management Department assisted up to 30 tourists who were either lost or stuck in the country’s mountains.
