A Bulgarian tourist has been saved after getting trapped in an avalanche in Georgia’s winter resort Gudauri.
The tourist was rescued after rescue officers from the state Mountain Resorts Development Company noticed him trapped in untracked snow.
"Bulgarian tourists who came to Georgia for skiing moved from the ski track to the prohibited area in the direction of Kobi. A sudden avalanche from the mountain snatched one of the tourists in the snow”, the agency said.
It added that rescue officers witnessed the incident from the top of the mountain and were successful to save the tourists.
The tourist did not suffer any injuries but he was taken to an emergency centre for safety purposes.
The Mountain Resorts Development Company warns all skiers that moving in untracked snow causes avalanches and asks them to follow the rules and not to ignore track markers.
