Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has condemned violence against more than 50 journalists at the Tbilisi Pride counter rally on July 5 committed by right-wing protesters.
The violence we saw yesterday is completely unacceptable and I want to publicly condemn this fact. What happened yesterday is categorically unacceptable. Violence against journalists is unacceptable and of course, it has to be condemned”, PM Garibashvili said.
He also underlined that all individuals will be identified and all guilty parties will be brought to justice.
The police are working very actively. This morning three people have been arrested, several people were arrested yesterday as well”, Garibashvili said.
53 employees of various TV channels and media outlets were injured.
Overall 11 people were detained for violence against journalists and for the attack on the offices of Tbilisi Pride and the Shame movement.
The organisers of Tbilisi Pride cancelled the March of Dignity yesterday, as they said due to ‘the inaction of the executive power’ which had been scheduled for 6 p.m.
