One charged with unlawful interference with journalist’s professional activities

The Prosecution Service of Georgia charged a citizen identified as D.V. with unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities and persecution on Sunday.

The investigation found that D.V. physically and verbally assaulted one journalist and two cameramen of Georgia’s Formula TV channel on March 17 in Tbilisi, while the media representatives were shooting an interview in a bar.

Special Investigation Service employees arrested D.V. on March 18. He is currently facing charges of persecution and unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities, punishable by up to three years in prison.

The statement highlighted the Prosecution Service practised a “strict policy” against the unlawful interference with the professional activities of the media.
