The Special Investigation Service of Georgia has charged two individuals with physical and verbal assault on reporters of the Mtavari Arkhi TV channel following an incident in August.
The Service said its investigation had found the offenders assaulted journalist Emma Gogokhia and cameraman Nika Gvalia on August 26 while they were reporting from an area of a wood processing plant in Khaishi village in north-western Georgia’s Mestia municipality.
In its investigation the body established the two professionals were threatened with death and physical injury by the offenders, followed by physical assault on the journalist.
The offences are punishable by two to six years in prison.
