Robin Dunnigan, the United States Ambassador to Georgia, on Wednesday said she was “very pleased” over Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s first official visit to Brussels this week and said she hoped to see the country as a member of the European Union in “years ahead”.
In her comments to the media, Dunnigan said “one of top priorities” of her country was to support Georgia during its “transition” to becoming a member state of the bloc.
The diplomat also said “one of the first things” she had done after assuming the position was to visit Brussels and highlight Georgia’s candidacy for EU membership.
Kobakhidze’s first official visit to Brussels started on Monday, with the official holding meetings with Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Olivér Várhelyi, the EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Charles Michel, the European Council President and Roberta Metsola, the European Parliament President.
