Authorities will institute traffic restrictions in the winter resort of Bakuriani to ensure uninterrupted access for visitors and athletes taking part in the Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships, the Ministry of Economy said on Tuesday.
Between February 15-27, traffic and parking will be restricted from the Rooms-Kokhta cable car location to Hotel Mgzavrebi between 10am to 4pm.
Between February 15-March 5, the same restriction will be applied to the area from the Didveli parking lot to Nikora Supermarket.
During the same time period, municipal transport will operate daily on routes set up for the Championships - including on the completely limited sections up to the Kokhta-Mitarbi and Didveli cable cars - between 9am and 5pm. Restrictions on traffic will be removed between 4pm-10am.
To avoid inconveniences from the restrictions, the working hours of the Kokhta-Mitarbi and Didveli cable cars have been extended from 9am to 6pm.
For parking, only vehicles designated for the Championships will be allowed in the parking lots near the cable cars between 10am and 4pm.
Free and paid parking spaces will be provided for visitors in the following areas:
Authorities will ensure prevention of illegal parking round-o'clock, between February 15-March 5, on both sections of the following road sections:
Traffic of carriages, saddled animals and motor vehicles will be prohibited on all above-mentioned sections.
About 700 athletes from 42 countries will be involved in the Championships set to run through March 5 in the town, competing in seven disciplines on the main ski trails of the Didveli and Kokhta mountains.
