About three months before the start of the 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships, a group of representatives of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation is in the Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani to inspect the infrastructure of the location preparing to host the event.

The final inspection is being made to assess the progress of the development on site, with Georgian economy minister Levan Davitashvili on Monday meeting Michel Vion, FIS Secretary General and the head of the inspection group.

The officials noted the "high quality of the performed works" and discussed the future of the resort as a ski destination “of a European level”, the ministry of economy said.

As a result of the implemented works, we have completely new systems of artificial snowmaking in Bakuriani, improved infrastructure in the form of new cableways and new tracks, as well as artificial reservoirs necessary for the proper functioning of the snowmaking system”, Davitashvili said, adding the upgrades would make the location “one of the most competitive resorts not only in the South Caucasus but internationally".
