Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Saturday highlighted the “large-scale” infrastructure works carried out by the Government, while inspecting the preparations for hosting the Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships to be launched on February 18 in Georgia’s winter resort of Bakuriani.

Garibashvili visited Didveli lake and got acquainted with the artificial snowmaking system and reservoirs, as well as met with the members of the organising group of the tournament, who briefed him on the infrastructural works carried out and he pledged Georgia would host the championship properly and have an “honourable” place on the world map of winter tourism.

The PM emphasised the “most modern” systems installed and the “unique infrastructure” arranged in Bakuriani, including three new cable cars, a new 30-km snowmaking system, and additional six new ski trails, for which the Government had allocated a total of ₾270 million (about $101mln) to host the World Championship properly, the Government Administration said.
