The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia has unveiled the central recreational park in the winter resort of Bakuriani following a renovation completed with the financial support of the World Bank.

Built across eight hectares, the park is divided into sports, cultural and recreational zones, the Fund said on Wednesday.

The body added new spaces in the park would allow visitors of all generations to relax in the area.

The ₾10 million ($3,692,898) renovation involved adaptation of the park to the needs of people with disabilities, and has spaces for strollers.
Authorities will institute traffic restrictions in the winter resort of Bakuriani to ensure uninterrupted access for visitors and athletes taking part in the Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships, the Ministry of Economy said on Tuesday.
Georgia’s popular ski resorts of Bakuriani and Gudauri have been marked as permanent hosts in the competition calendar of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, enabling the destinations to host stages of World Cup events running under the body annually. The Mountain Trails Agency of Georgia on Wednesday said the two locations would be among 11 resorts around the world hosting 19 events of the 2023-2024 FIS Ski Cross World Cup calendar.
Michael Vion, the secretary general of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, has praised infrastructure works in the Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani ahead of its hosting of next year’s Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships, Georgia’s Mountain Trails Agency said on Tuesday.
There are only a few days to go before the biggest event of the year of the Georgian sports calendar - the Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships - launches on Thursday at the winter resort of Bakuriani. Preparations for the occasion are in the final stage, with international specialists of competition tracks on site and the artificial snowmaking system of the location producing snow daily for the event. Accreditation centres have been opened on site to enable arriving athletes and visitors to register, while media centres, technical spaces and food facilities are being equipped with the necessary inventory.
Georgian Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze on Thursday presented the summary of the work of his office throughout 2022 to the Parliament, highlighting construction and renovation of road infrastructure, water supply and drainage systems, educational and sports infrastructure projects, and projects implemented within the Renewed Regions programme.
