The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance on Wednesday said its professionals had arrested two individuals for selling counterfeit currency in large quantities.
The Service said its investigation had established the offenders had sold a total of $2,200 worth of forged $100 bills at “various trade facilities”.
It also said it had seized nine forged bills totalling €1,800, and a fake $50 bill, from one of the suspects, and added it was working to “identify and expose” other persons involved in the case.
The crime is punishable by imprisonment between seven and 10 years.
