The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday said it had arrested two employees of the Georgian National Forestry Service last month for bribery.
Arrested in the western region of Imereti and the south-western region of Samtskhe-Javakheti, the individuals had taken payments for allowing citizens to collect layers of fertile soil from forest areas under their supervision, the Service said.
It added the investigation was ongoing to identify other persons involved in the case, with the arrested individuals facing six to nine years of imprisonment.
