Finance Ministry investigators detain 3 for illegal trademark use

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Finance Ministry on Thursday detained three individuals for illegal use of trademarks.

The Service said its investigation had found the offenders had set up operations in residential houses in Georgia's eastern Kvemo Kartli region where they packaged cheap washing powders using trademarks for branded detergents.

A total of 1,386 packages of different sizes of counterfeit powders worth over ₾44,000 ($17,224) were seized from the operation.

The crime is punishable by imprisonment by three to five years.
