Finance Ministry Investigators arrest one for sale of counterfeit currency

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance on Thursday said its professionals had arrested one individual for selling counterfeit currency.

The Service said its investigation had established the offender had issued 16 forged $100 bills in the country’s eastern Kakheti region.

It added it had seized the fake bills, with the investigation ongoing to identify and expose persons in connection with the perpetrator. 

The crime is punishable by imprisonment between four to seven years.
