Georgia stands with Ukraine on the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of the country, and the Georgian Government has expressed its “strong support in all international formats”, Parliament Vice Speaker Archil Talakvadze said on Friday.
Talakvadze underlined support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and its “struggle for freedom” in comments on the stance of the Government.
Georgia stands with Ukraine. We expressed our strong support for Ukraine in all international formats, be it the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the International Criminal Court, the resolutions passed by the West and, of course, Georgia is part of all the major political and legal decisions that our Western partners adopt,” Talakvadze said.
The Parliament official noted Georgia’s political decisions, in terms of its positions on Ukraine, were “coordinated and in line with” the country’s international partners.
We understand that the principal desire of our most radical opposition is to somehow damage Georgia's image in the international arena, but I would like to address them that the lies with short-term effects will not hinder Georgia's progress and Georgia's cooperation with the West,” the Parliament Vice Speaker said in reference to the local political opposition’s criticism of the Government’s stance on Ukraine amid the war.
