The United Nations resolution on Friday, as well as the Georgian Government’s position, “reaffirm” the country stands with the international community on the matter of support for Ukraine, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said on Friday.

Zalkaliani made the remark in comments following the UN General Assembly resolution calling for protection of civilians amid the ongoing war in the country, co-sponsored by 90 states including Georgia.

This resolution and Georgia's position reaffirm that we stand with the international community in both political and humanitarian terms, and we will continue to uphold the fundamental norms of international law in relation to Ukraine,” David Zalkaliani said.

Georgia’s foreign office said the main purpose of the resolution was to respond to the “dire humanitarian situation” in Ukraine as a result of Russia's aggression that started last month.
