The Georgian Government and citizens of the country are “doing their utmost” to express solidarity with Ukraine and stand by the Ukrainian people amid the war, the Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Archil Talakvadze said Thursday at a discussion dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Georgian-Ukrainian diplomatic relations in Tbilisi.

Today, a very interesting discussion is being held in Tbilisi, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and friendship between Georgia and Ukraine. Georgia remains one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity”, Talakvadze said.

In remarks about the conflict, the official expressed hope that “peace will prevail” in the country through the involvement and the efforts of the international community, enabling Ukraine to continue development and achieve “long-term stability and security”.

Talakvadze also said Ukraine and Georgia “have always been brotherly nations and will be so in the future”.

Ukraine is defending itself from the Russian invasion that started in February and has left thousands killed and injured on both sides.

Representatives of the Georgian Government have stressed their support for Ukraine in international platforms and resolutions, and have highlighted their delivery of substantial humanitarian aid to the country amid the war.
