The Georgian parliamentary delegation will leave for Ukraine today, Parliament Vice Speaker Archil Talakvadze said on Friday.

Talakvadze said the delegation would hold "all important meetings" in the country defending itself from the Russian invasion to express Georgia's support.

Our goal is to express our condolences to our friends in Ukraine for the heavy human losses that have unfortunately come with the war,” the Parliament official said, adding Georgia stood with the Ukrainian people “in this difficult situation.”

Ukraine is at war. It will not be an ordinary parliamentary visit to dedicate the whole day to meetings, but all the important meetings will take place and we will show our political support,” Talakvadze concluded.

The parliamentary delegation leaving for Ukraine will be headed by the Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili. The delegation includes Vice Speakers Archil Talakvadze and David Sergeenko from the ruling Georgian Dream party, and Levan Ioseliani from the opposition party Citizens.

Four opposition MPs - Ana Natsvlishvili from Lelo, Vakhtang Megrelishvili from Girchi, Republican Party’s Khatuna Samnidze and For Georgia’s Giorgi Khojevanishvili - will also be part of the Georgian delegation.
