The Georgian Parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and involving representatives of both the ruling party and Parliamentary opposition, departed for its official visit to Ukraine on Friday, the Georgian Public Broadcaster said.

With Parliament Vice Speakers  Davit Sergeenko and Archil Talakvadze from the ruling Georgian Dream party, Levan Ioseliani from the opposition party Citizens, Ana Natsvlishvili from Lelo, Vakhtang Megrelishvili from Girchi, Republican Party’s Khatuna Samnidze and For Georgia’s Giorgi Khojevanishvili, the delegation’s official trip follows an invitation by Ukrainian authorities.

The group will use the visit to show solidarity with Ukraine amid the Russian invasion of the country, with Talakvadze saying the delegation would hold "all important meetings" with Ukrainian officials.

“Our goal is to express our condolences to our friends in Ukraine for the heavy human losses that have unfortunately come with the war,” the Parliament official said earlier, adding Georgia stood with the Ukrainian people “in this difficult situation.”

The delegation does not involve representatives of the United National Movement and European Socialists opposition parties.
