The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili said on Friday the organisational questions related to the planned visit of a Georgian Parliamentary delegation to Ukraine were still being agreed on, but added he would welcome the opportunity to hold the trip this week.
Papuashvili noted security matters as being part of the details, adding he was in “constant contact” with Ukrainian counterparts over the matter.
The organisational issues related to the visit to Ukraine are still agreed upon - namely, dates, routes, and more. We wish the visit to take place this week,” the Parliament Speaker said.
He stressed the official trip would be a “visit of solidarity” to the nation defending itself from the ongoing invasion, in which the “emotional part” would “prevail”.
The delegation includes Vice Speakers Archil Talakvadze and David Sergeenko from the ruling Georgian Dream party, and Levan Ioseliani from the opposition party Citizens.
Four opposition MPs - Ana Natsvlishvili from Lelo, Vakhtang Megrelishvili from Girchi, Republican Party’s Khatuna Samnidze and For Georgia’s Giorgi Khojevanishvili - will also be part of the Georgian delegation to Ukraine.
