Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said on Wednesday he had offered the majority and opposition MPs to each select three delegates for a visit to Ukraine amid the war, but the opposition disagreed.

Papuashvili explained the opposition had requested the delegation to include one representative from each political party, which would create “logistic difficulties.”

We are going there [to Ukraine] in the name of the Parliament, not as representatives of political groups,” he added.

Earlier today, Papuashvili held an online meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Ruslan Stefanchuk to discuss the Georgian delegation’s upcoming visit to Ukraine. During the meeting, Stefanchuk thanked the Georgian authorities for assistance provided since the start of the Russian invasion in February, as well as for the “outstanding care and attention” for the Ukrainian people in Georgia.
