The recall of the Ukrainian Ambassador of Georgia is a matter “up to Ukraine to decide” as the move has been made by the President of the country as a result of his dissatisfaction with the diplomat’s work, Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chairman of the Rules and Procedural Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, said on Thursday.

Kadagishvili was responding to the recall of the Ambassador on Thursday for the failure in obtaining Georgia’s imposition of sanctions against Russia following the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine starting last month.

Formally, we are dealing more with a situation when the President of Ukraine himself was dissatisfied with the work of his Ambassador. Therefore, it's entirely up to them to decide,” the ruling Georgian Dream party member said.

Kadagishvili said Georgia had “clearly, firmly and proactively” supported Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and condemned the Russian aggression on “all international platforms”.

He also pointed out the Georgian Government could not supply weapons - the other matter that determined Zelenskyy’s decision to recall diplomats from Georgia and Morocco - because “it does not have such weapons”.

The Georgian politician also pointed to the “selective” decisions by NATO and the United States on supplying arms to Ukraine to highlight the delicate question of such a decision.

Zelenskyy on Thursday signed decrees recalling Ambassadors from Georgia and Morocco, citing their failure to obtain imposition of sanctions of Russia or supply of weapons to Ukraine amid the war as the cause for the moves.
