Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Alexander Vinikov, the new head of the NATO Liaison Office (NLO) in Georgia today, congratulating the official on his appointment.
During the meeting held at the Government Administration in the capital, the parties spoke about the successful NATO-Georgia cooperation, the progress made by the country on its North Atlantic integration path, and the ongoing reforms in the direction.
The discussion also focused on the security environment in the Eastern European region and the ongoing military actions in Ukraine. The Prime Minister reiterated the special importance of the international community's efforts to end the hostilities soon.
NATO Liaison Office Georgia represents the alliance in the country by facilitating political and military dialogue and practical cooperation under the NATO-Georgia Commission, in support of the country’s membership aspirations.
The Office also serves to enhance civil and military cooperation between the alliance and the Government of Georgia in support of the Euro-Atlantic integration goals described in the Annual National Plan (ANP).
