Robin Dunnigan, the newly appointed United States Ambassador to Georgia, on Monday said she had discussed “further strengthening” defence and security cooperation between the two states with the Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze, and pledged to act for the goal.

Following the meeting at the Ministry office earlier on Monday, the diplomat also reaffirmed her Government's “absolute support” for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, before hailing an “excellent meeting” with the official.

Describing her country as the “strongest supporter” of Georgia to upgrade the latter’s defence and security, the diplomat pledged to take further actions with Tbilisi and international partners in the direction.

The US and Georgia have strong strategic cooperation in the fields of defence and security, and we will further strengthen this cooperation", the Ambassador noted.

The diplomat arrived in Georgia earlier this month, replacing Kelly Degnan in the post.
