Strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States was discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and Robin Dunnigan, the newly appointed US Ambassador to the country.

The meeting focused on the experience of cooperation of the Georgian and American military in international operations, the Defence Ministry said.

The officials reviewed the implementation of the ongoing initiatives to strengthen Georgia's defence and deterrence capabilities, which was “positively” assessed by the American side.

The meeting also noted the “positive” dynamics of the US-Georgia multinational exercises that “increase the level of professionalism and interoperability of the [Georgian] Defence Forces”.

Burchuladze extended his gratitude to the US Government for assistance provided to support the GDF and said he hoped the defence partnership between the countries would be “further strengthened”.
