The Georgian Government has promised to bring special New Year’s Eve events to residents of all 10 regions of the country, with celebrations set to be launched on December 24 and run through January 14.

In an initiative aimed at expanding official holiday season celebrations beyond capital Tbilisi and largest cities, events involving Santa Clauses, characters from fairytales and more will be hosted for young visitors in 63 municipalities.

Children will be welcomed to the celebrations by their favourite characters, such as those from the Georgian animation Giraffe Zhoze.

Up to 50,000 individuals have been involved in organising these events throughout the country. They have been working on the project for more than two months”, Tata Svanadze, a Government Administration representative, told Agenda.ge.

Svanadze also said all regions would have new and illuminated Christmas trees in this year’s celebrations until December 24, and added she hoped that “over the years, New Year’s Eve holidays will become more and more beautiful”.

For the first time over the recent years, the winter resort town of Bakuriani will also have special events for the upcoming holiday season.
