New Year's Eve in Georgia: Gov’t announces shows during festive season

The Government of Georgia on Thursday announced shows for the festive season programme across the country ahead of Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations, with the events set to host residents and visitors of the country between December 23 and January 13.

The celebrations will range from the capital city of Tbilisi to major cities of the country in 10 regions spreading from east to West, from Telavi in the east to Kutaisi, Batumi and Zugdidi in the west, Mestia in the north-west and more.

In the Kakheti region, Telavi will celebrate the season with public festive decorations and a new Christmas tree that will be unveiled later today.

The Black Sea city of Batumi is also magically decorated for the festive season, oozing sparkling charm to entice visitors and locals.

The estate of Dadiani Palace, a historical complex connected to the noble family, will host the celebrations in the city of Zugdidi in the Samegrelo region. The city has been already decorated and set to ring in the new year with events and shows.

Georgia's highland town of Mestia in the Svaneti region will host locals and visitors not only with shows and activities but also with snow and skiing adventure. The winter season officially opened in the location on Wednesday, inviting enthusiasts to try its slopes and tracks.

And of course the capital city of Tbilisi is also ready for the final countdown with new decorations and a new Christmas tree. 

The Christmas Village, which includes Orbeliani Square, surrounding streets and Dedaena Park, will host a Christmas market, gastronomic and entrepreneurial exhibitions, performances, children’s workshops and other events. 

Evening programmes will involve artist shows followed by DJ performances and electronic music. 

The First Republic Square in the capital will host a gala concert on New Year’s Eve.
