Georgian PM wishes “peace, prosperity” to all celebrating Christmas on December 25

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Sunday congratulated all people in Georgia and abroad, who celebrate Christmas on December 25, wishing them “peace and prosperity”, the Government Administration said.

Most importantly, I wish peace and prosperity to those for whom December 25 is a festive holiday of love, joy and hope", the Head of the Government said.

An annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ is observed primarily on December 25 by the Western Churches and Eastern Orthodox churches that use the Revised Julian Calendar. In Georgia, Christmas service was performed in Catholic, Baptist and Evangelical-Lutheran churches, as well as in the Church of the Gospel Faith.

The Georgian Orthodox church follows the Old Julian Calendar and celebrates Christmas on January 7.
