Italian media on Monday hailed Napoli’s Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for his contribution to the team’s win against reigning champions AC Milan on Sunday at the San Siro Stadium in Milan.
“Kvara Commands” - the front page of one of the leading Italian daily sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport said.
He broke Milan, then lured them into a trap and created the conditions for Napoli's victory: so at the age of twenty-one Kvaratskhelia made his leadership in the championship. The Georgian's performance is actually the keystone of the [championship] race”, Corriere dello Sport noted.
In the first half of the game, the Georgian midfielder drew fouls from Milan’s two defenders Kjaer and Calabria, prompting the Rossoneri coach to replace them.

In the second half, Kvaratskhelia went down in Milan’s box under pressure from Sergino Dest, with a video assistance referee check confirming Dest had made contact with Kvaratskhelia’s foot before getting to the ball and leading to referee Maurizio Mariani pointing to the penalty spot. Matteo Politano gave Napoli the lead from the spot-kick.
Napoli have climbed to the summit of Serie A championship with the 2-1 win, the first defeat of the season for the reigning champions.
