Security matters in the Black sea region and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Georgia, Ali Kaan Orbai, and the Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze.

Burchuladze extended his gratitude to the Turkish Ambassador for his support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, as well as the country’s NATO integration, the Ministry of Defence said.

The Georgian official also stressed the importance of the political and practical support tailored to the needs of NATO partners, adopted at the recent NATO Summit. He also highlighted the role of Turkey in the process. 

The meeting also focused on long-term financial, material-technical and expert support of the Turkish Government in the development of Georgia's defence capabilities.
