Georgian PM, Turkish Interior Minister discuss “fruitful cooperation”

Relations between Georgia and Turkey were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and the Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.

Garibashvili and Soylu noted the “high level” of the strategic partnership between the two countries, noting it was “important” to further deepen the existing cooperation, the Government Administration said.

The meeting also focused on the “fruitful cooperation” between the law enforcement agencies of the two states, as well as the impact of the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine on the security situation in the South Caucasus region.

Garibashvili thanked Soylu for Turkey’s support for Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Soylu conveyed a “cordial greeting” to Garibashvili from the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
