Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze says that Georgia is currently experiencing peak coronavirus infections, noting that the duration of the peak depends on many factors, including the observation of recently-imposed government regulations.
Georgia reported 3,216 coronavirus cases today, while the amount of cases was more than 4,400 yesterday and the day before yesterday. Gamkrelidze says that the decrease in the number of cases is caused by less conducted tests on the weekends, especially on Sundays.
We predicted the coronavirus peak in the second half of November and we know that the country has entered the peak already. We have 3,000-4,000 coronavirus cases every day,” he said.
Gamkrelidze said that coronavirus cases may increase but will approximately remain in the range of 3000-4000.
20,305 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today.
Georgia has had 135,584 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
Since then 113,986 individuals have recovered, while 1,267 others have died.
6,383 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,038 of the 6,383 patients are in critical condition. 466 of the 1,038 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
3,857 Covid-19 patients are in hotels, 2,104 individuals are in quarantine and 10,065 are at home.
52,822 individuals are in self-isolation.
More than 1,183,000 coronavirus tests have been conducted in Georgia so far.
