Locals and travelers know Ajara for its summer holiday seaside attractions, however the western Georgian region has much more to offer its visitors, as a new video shows.

Released by the region’s tourism agency earlier today, the viral ad Green Ajara features seven places that its creators say deserve more tourist attention.

These include national parks, ancient monuments and mountainous locations throughout the region, with the video also including distance to the spots, in kilometres, from the regional capital Batumi.

Attractions featured in the video include Kobuleti Protected Areas, remains of the 535AD Petra Fortress that served as an East Roman outpost on the Black Sea coast in the 6th century, and Mtirala National Park.

The video was designed as part of a campaign launched for both countrywide and international promotion of the region, and carried out in 16 countries.

It was commissioned to create a visual preview for interested travelers who, until now, could have only been guided by photographs of the locations.

The Adjara Tourism Department said the message of the video would be augmented by billboards showing information and route to the spots in Ajara.

The promo ad is part of a series of Ajara tourism videos produced by Look Production and Golden Hammer International Advertising Festival Award-winning Tbilisi studio JWT Metro.

The videos are expected to be released by the tourism department in Georgia and throughout the target countries during the summer season.
