Georgia’s Black Sea resort town of Batumi has been nominated as Europe’s leading, growing tourist destination at the World Travel Awards, often referred to as the Oscar of tourism awards.

You can vote for Batumi starting April 28 at the official website of the World Travel Awards.

Chairman of the Government of Adjara Tornike Rijvadze says this will contribute to increased awareness of Batumi worldwide.

It is important to promote sustainable development of tourism, which means that the country will receive long-term benefits. It is necessary to support Batumi to win this nomination with the coordinated action of the government, media and society”, said Rijvadze.

Sofia (Bulgaria), Matera (Italy), Bako (Azerbaijan), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Kutna Hora (Czech Republic) are competing Batumi in this nomination.

The winner will be revealed on June 8 in Madeira, Portugal, where the award ceremony will be held.
