Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Georgia's Ambassador to the European Union, on Tuesday said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Brussels this week would be ”extremely interesting and informative”.

Makharoblishvili said the eighth meeting of the Association Council between the EU and Georgia would be the first meeting after the country was granted the bloc’s membership candidate status in December.

He added the first topic of discussions at the meeting would be Georgia's accession to the bloc, as well as reforms and steps to be taken by the country on its European integration path.

He added the discussion also included fulfilment of the nine conditions set out by the European Commission in November for opening accession talks with the country.

Kobakhidze on Monday left for his first official visit to Brussels to hold meetings with officials of EU and NATO bodies.
