Georgia's European Union membership bid and the reforms to bring the country closer to EU legislation were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili and EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders.
Held as part of Papuashvili’s ongoing visit to Brussels, the meeting focused on the rule of law, human rights and judicial reform back in Georgia.
Papuashvili informed the European Commissioner about the priorities of parliamentary activities in the country, and noted the legislative body would continue to “actively participate” in the European integration process.
Papuashvili and Didier also discussed the Russian aggression in Ukraine, expressing solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
