Georgian PM, OSCE Chairman discuss security issues amid war in Ukraine

Security challenges in the Black Sea region caused by the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine were discussed on Wednesday in a meeting between Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and Chairman-in-Office of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe and Poland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau.

Garibashvili reiterated Georgia'a solidarity with Ukraine and added his Government has been assisting the country through humanitarian aid and political support in international formats.

The Head of the Georgian Government stressed the "crucial role" of the international community and of "effective steps" to end the war "as soon as possible", the Government Administration said.

The meeting also focused on the future cooperation during the OSCE chairmanship of Poland, and regional issues.

In the meeting, Garibashvili underlined the importance of effective coordination of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) for Georgia's occupied territories, and the Georgian Government's peaceful policy in the direction.

The Polish diplomat reaffirmed his "strong support" for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
