EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders wrote he had a “fruitful meeting” with Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday, as the officials discussed Georgia’s commitment to democracy and the country’s resilience in context of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Reynders noted Georgia’s efforts to observe the rule of law and reform the judicial system had also been the topics of discussion.

Papuashvili met with Reynders during his official visit to Brussels on March 30. The Georgian Parliament Speaker informed the European Commissioner about the priorities of parliamentary activities in the country, adding the legislative body would continue to “actively participate” in the European integration process.
