Prospects for bilateral relations and the current developments in the South Caucasus region were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and his Armenian counterpart Alen Simonyan.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia said in the meeting the two countries were united by “friendly relations” with “rich historical past”, while Papuashvili noted the cooperation between the parliaments should be further strengthened, the Press Service of the Georgian Parliament said.
The relations between our countries span over many centuries, but this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations. This age-old brotherhood imposes other responsibilities on us,” Papuashvili said.
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia is on an official visit to the Republic of Armenia, holding a series of meetings with the country’s top officials.
